Skills: Speaking, Listening
Level: Elementary
Recommended Age: 10+
Number of Participants: 5-9 players
Time: 10-15 minutes
Place: Classroom
Equipment:
- A set of alphabet flashcards
- A game table, that can be replaced with two desks, which are put together
Materials: Not required
Preliminary Preparation (5-10 minutes).
1. Think of such a word, where the number of letters coincides with the number of players and none of them is repeated. For a class of seven students, let us consider the word 'holiday'.
2. Select the flashcards with the corresponding letters.
Immediate Preparation (5-10 minutes).
1. Arrange the players around the game table.
2. Warn the students in advance not to show their cards to the rivals.
3. Distribute the flashcards turned face down around the participants of the game. Thereby, after opening their card, each player knows only one letter, their total number in the word and the fact, that none of them is repeated.
How to Play. A typical game might start something like this:
Player А (who has got the letter 'I'): Is it 'kitchen'?
You: No, it isn't.
Player B (who has got the letter 'H'): Is it 'brother'?
You: No, it isn't.
Player C (who has got the letter 'A'): Is it 'surname'?
You: No, it isn't.
and so on.
The player, who guesses the word, becomes the winner of the game.
