Subject: Spelling + Food

Skills: Writing, Reading

Level: Beginner

Recommended Age: 10+

Number of Participants: 3-12 players, preferably multiple to three

Time: 20-25 minutes

Place: Classroom

Equipment: A black- or whiteboard

Materials: A piece of chalk or a marker

Preliminary Preparation: Not required

Immediate Preparation (5-7 minutes).

1. Make three columns on the board and head them A, B and C.

2. Divide the participant of the game into three parts of (roughly) equal size.

3. Ask the first team to represent the vitamin A, the second one to represent the vitamin B and the third to represent the vitamin C. In order to do this, the players mus find as many names of food, containing these 'vitamins', i.e. the corresponding letters, as possible.

How to Play. When the teams have finished, bring the class to order. Afterwards, invite the teams to nominate secretaries, who come to the board and take it in turns to write their words one by one in the corresponding collumns. The words must not be repeated in different lists! At the same time, the competitors carefully check the spelling and count the number of used letters. When all three columns are completed, the teams get one point for each written letter. The team, which gets the most points in total, becomes the winner of the game.
