Ideas for English Lessons

Subject: Spelling + Food

Skills: Writing, Reading.

Level: A1

Recommended Age: 10+

Number of Participants: 3-12 players, preferably multiple to 3.

Time: 20-25 minutes.

Place: Classroom.

Equipment: Board.

Materials: A piece of chalk / a marker.

Preliminary Preparation: Not required.

Immediate Preparation (5-7 minutes). First make 3 columns on the board and head them A, B and C.  Next divide the class into 3 teams: the first one represents the vitamin A, the second one represents the vitamin B and the third one represents the vitamin C. In order to do this, the players should find as many names of food, containing these 'vitamins', i.e. the corresponding letters, as possible.

How to Play. When the teams are ready, their 'secretaries' come to the board and take it in turns to write their words one by one in the corresponding collumns. The words should not be repeated in different lists! The rivals carefully check the spelling. When all three columns are completed, the teams get 1 point for each given letter. The winner is the team to get the most points.
