Three Keys

Subject: Spelling


Skills: Reading, Speaking, Writing.

Level: A1

Recommended Age: 10+

Number of Participants: 4-12 players.

Time: 20-25 minutes.

Place: Classroom.

Equipment: Board.

Materials: A piece of chalk / a marker.

Preliminary Preparation (5-7 minutes). First think of a long word, e.g. 'grandmother'. Next make 3 new words from its letters, e.g.: orange, heart and garden.

Immediate Preparation (3-5 minutes). Write 'three keys' on the board and ask the players to guess the original word. The player to guess the word, gets 1 point. Then you ask each player to think of a long word and make 'three keys' from its letters in their notebook.

How to Play. When everyone is ready, Player А comes to the board and writes his/her words and so on. The game lasts as long as all the original words have been revealed. At the end, the gained points are counted up. The winner is the player to get the most points in total.
