Flower Meadow

Subject: Vocabulary

Skills: Writing.

Level: A2

Recommended Age: 10-12 y.o.

Participants Number: 6-10 players.

Time: 25-30 minutes.

Place: Playground.

Equipment: Not required.

Materials: Pieces of chalk by number of participants.

Preliminary Preparation: Not required.

Immediate Preparation (5-10 minutes): Ask each child: 'What's your favourite subject?' If the answers coincide, then ask: 'What's your second choice?' so that each player gets his own subject. Then provide each child with a pice of chalk.

How to Play. The children disperse on the playground and draw circles around themselves, which represent flower cores. Next each player writes his/her subject in his/her circle. Then he/she draws leaves of his/her ‘flower’ and writes in them words linked with the given subject. For example, the Maths flower might have leaves like these: number, ruler, square, plus, calculator, etc. The winner is the child whose ‘flower has more leaves’ with correct words.
